A homeowner in Milton, Mass., set his home on fire while using a blowtorch to try to melt stubborn sheets of ice stuck to his roof, according to MSN.
The man climbed a ladder and started using the blowtorch, but his roof soon caught fire. He was able to get off the ladder and call 911. Firefighters arrived not long after and found the roof and the entire attic ablaze.
The frigid temperatures reportedly only strengthened the fire. Firefighters worked for hours until the fire was under control. No injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to the one home.
“Just get a professional company to take care of your ice,” said Milton Fire Deputy Chief John Earner. “I mean, don’t get hurt. I mean, don’t go up on your roofs.”
